Kid Designers

To mix things up for this years KCWC I decided to let my girls designer their own clothes.  They almost always like what I make but there have been a few pieces that get shoved to the back of the drawer.  To avoid any unwanted items this year I'm letting them be part of the process.

First I sketched out some basic shaped from the patterns I have.  I selected only pieces that I wanted to sew.  Nothing too complicated.  I made one sheet of dresses and one sheet of separates then made a few copies for each girl.

After the first sheet was filled in (the brightly colored page below) I suggested that we choose a color scheme so the pieces would go together.  Now I hope you don't think I'm planning on making all these clothes.  It is more as a source of inspiration.  Once I see what they come up with I'll shop for fabric and decide what to make.  That green and blue skirt is a front runner so far.

Erin's color choices.

 Ava's color choices.

Ava wanted a few ideas so I gave her a Mini Boden catalog.  There clothes are really her taste (and mine).  Erin informed me that it was not what she wanted so we'll see what she comes up with.

This is going to be so much fun.  I can't wait.  Are you planning on participating in the challenge?

Erin is a girl after my own heart. Those would be my exact color choices too. :)
