Not a Christmas Picture

Why is it so difficult to get a good Christmas picture? I get them dressed up and sit them in front of a window for good lighting but 145 pictures later, nothing. The same thing happened last year. I don't think we are a formal picture taking crew. I get much better results with casual snapshots of them actually having a good time. Okay, I guess it is time to plan a fun activity. I just need to remember to have their hair brushed.

Why I love him.

It is not just that he brought me tulips last week (my favorite flower)...

... he also vacuumed while I took pictures of the flowers.
Now don't think he cleans and brings me flowers everyday, but I love him because he knows when I need them the most. Today I was exhausted after a busy week so he took our oldest daughter to church giving me a little quiet and a chance get caught up. Then he washed my car on the way home. I married a prince. All is right with the world again.
Thanks my love.

Grey Anthropologie Inspired Capelet (first attempt)

Here are a few pictures of an almost finished knitting project. It was originally intended for me but will be passed down to Ava. I need to finish the sleeves and plan on adding a pink ribbon tie. I love the pin but will save that for my second attempt at this capelet.

Jumping Ship

For the past few months I've been working on this sweater and listening to Moby Dick on my MP3 player. I had to frog (knitting term for ripping out stitches) a good portion of it about 3 or 4 times. Just when I thought I had a good rhythm going I found my pattern was off. I have been more than patient with this project but for my own sanity I had to set it down and step away.
That goes for Moby Dick too. Great story but I just can't handle anything epic right now. I've decided to choose an easy knitting project that should be easy to finish and a light story to keep me entertained.

Girl Power

Here are a few pictures from the Shaolin Kung Fu Academy's first Annual Pentathlon. The five events included strength (push-ups), awareness (bean bag dodge), balance (one leg stand), power (kicks/punches) and battle (knife tag...yes I said knife tag). It was a great day and although we did not bring home any trophies today we had a lot of fun.

I'm not sure what her final power score was but lets just say there is room for growth.
44 seconds.

Ava battling in the park, just for the record she won 3-1.

Superstar

Instead of writing about my trip up to Phoenix last night to see Ree the Pioneer Woman I'll just copy and paste the comment that I left for her this morning.

I love the song. So sad we didn't get one in Phoenix. I barely saw you last night as I made my way around the crowd. I know you are loved but I was SO impressed to see hundreds of fans show up for the signing. I am more than impressed that you read all your comments so since I wasn't able to get up close and personal last night "Hello Ree, I think you're great." I had to leave so I could drive back home to Tucson but my sister-in-law is going to pick up our books that you signed. (Don't you love sister-in-laws). Congratulations to all the success.

This morning I think I'll go back to my perception of you as my own personal PW.

Tea in November

I am enjoying November so much. I think it could be my favorite month. We got a taste of the fall weather however we are back in the 90's again. I am so looking forward to wearing sweaters and drinking hot tea in the evenings. In the meantime a tea party with my little ones will do.

Thanks Giving

I am thankful for little girls.
This November I am excited to start a new tradition that celebrates Thanks and Giving. Some time last year I came across this post over at chocolate on my cranium and was very inspired. I have printed each of my girls a tree titled Thanks and Giving. Every day they get to tell me what they are thankful for and something they give to others. I write it on a paper leaf and they add it to their tree. Today was about what I expected.
Ava
Thankful for Bronte (one of her dinosaurs).
Giving hugs to everyone, including the dogs.
Erin
Thankful for her family.
Giving a card to her grandmother.
I am thankful for little girls. I love that they are entertained by my creativity and they inspire me every day.
Today I gave them my time when we sat together and had a tea party. I stayed in the moment without letting my thoughts drift off to my to do list. I also gave them a homemade pumpkin pie. Not that we need more sweets in the house but fall was just calling to me.
