I talked a little yesterday about finding my inspiration, here is how I ended up spending the day.
After I dropped the girls off at school I grabbed my camera and wallet and went for a walk. My mission was to purchase a moleskin journal and new pen at the local campus bookstore.
I walked slowly along the way and stopped to take pictures of anything that caught my eye. I snapped interesting doorways, pretty windows, textured bricks, shadows, flowers etc. The color of spring is everywhere and the 78 degree weather could not have been more perfect.
I eventually found my moleskin but found it a little hard to get started with pen and ink, the camera was a better tool for my mood.
I think this is my favorite picture. I love the texture of the cactus, the natural transition of the green from dark to light and the contrast of old and new.

After the bookstore I picked up a fruit smoothy and kept walking until I hit an art museum. I walked around and soaked it in. Why don't people visit art museums? I guess birthday parties, trips to target and catching up on laundry take over the weekend. I'm really going to make an effort to visit more local museums.
It really reminded me of those episodes on Project Runway when Tim Gunn lets the designers loose in an art museum with 1 hour and a sketch pad. I love the layers and flowy dresses the ladies are wearing and the painting above would be really cool to build a quilt around. The orange, red, gray and white color palate works so well together.
It was a pretty ideal day. I wouldn't change a thing except next time I won't wear sandals, I think I have some blisters forming.
Where do you go for inspiration?

Beautiful photos. I often avoid art museums as I am usually with my 3 kiddos. I would love to take my older two with me to check it out. I found your blog via Clover Lane. I am in Arizona too. I find inspiration outside.
I love your photos. I used to spend a lot of time in art museums but my little ones are too noisy and restless. I'm looking forward to taking them in future.
I find my inspiration in nature and taking time to notice the little details. :-)
Great pics! Come to Chi and we will spend all day at art museums. You could really spend all week, though.
What a picturesque place you live! Sounds like a lovely lovely day. I'd kill for a day like that right now -- especially the 78 degrees!
